Set in classic Tuscany and surrounded by the vineyards of Montepulciano, Villa Cicolina is a perfect holiday destination. Aside of it's Frescoes, it's stunning location, the views and it's spacious suites it has one of the best pools we've ever seen.
This magical new small hotel was once the country retreat of a noble family of Montepulciano. It has 8 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, three mini apartments and an ambience second to none.
When restoring the villa and preparing it for their guests the owners had one rule, 'It must be the best' and this is evident in every corner of the villa. Starting with what was already a structure of top quality, careful attention has been paid to preserve original characteristics.
The entrance hall and main reception rooms are extensively and beautifully frescoed. Under the house is a vaulted cellar that dates back to the Etruscan period. It houses the wine and olive oil of the villa's estate and on occasion guests gather for tasting.
Breakfast, and sometimes dinners, are served in a converted barn or, in the summer months, the garden. Occasionally, a superb local chef, who enjoys sharing her talents with others, gives four-hour cookery lessons - the results of which are, of course, eaten with intense pleasure.
Accommodation:
Every room in the villa has been individually furnished with antiques and beautiful fabrics, and the bathrooms are impeccable. All accommodation comes with satellite television in multiple languages, a hairdryer, telephone with international dialing, air conditioning, mini bar and a safe for your valuables. Children are welcome. Villa Cicolina must be one of the best new hotels in Tuscany.
The Garden :
The grounds are delightful. Seasonal fruit from mature trees make jam for breakfast, a pretty fountain plays in a small formal Italian garden, and a tiny chapel provides space for reflection. But the best thing is the spectacular pool. The edge of the pool leads your eye out to breath taking views as the water spills continually over a small wall in the shallow end made of a thick slab of clear glass, the effect created is of a merging of sky and water with the distant hills beyond. Part of the pool is also fitted with hydro massage jets.
The pool is well furnished with umbrellas and sun lounges and a small changing room with bathroom.
Location :
Montepulciano is just 2km away, Pienza 12km and Siena (50 minutes), Florence (1 hour and 20 minutes to the centre) Cortona (less than 30 minutes) and Montalcino (less than 20 minutes).
Villa Cicolina is with in easy reach of most important Tuscan places of interest. The nearest airport is Florence (about an hour and a half ). Rome and Pisa airports are equidistant (2 ½ hours by car)
